The world-renowned pharma giant Eli Lilly has come forward to invest about Rs. 9,000 crores in Telangana. In this context, it has announced that it will establish its manufacturing hub in Hyderabad for the first time in the country. With the decision of the company, it will manage the expansion of world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing and services from here.
Representatives of Eli Lilly and Company met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Integrated Command Control Center in Hyderabad on Monday. Revanth Reddy said that Telangana has become an address for investments in the world andit is a pleasure for Eli Lilly and Company to come forward for huge investments as part of its expansion. He made it clear that his government will always support companies and industries that come with investments in every way.
He said that Hyderabad has become a center for giant pharma companies since the establishment of IDPL in 1961, and currently 40 percent of bulk drugs are produced here. He recalled that the Covid vaccines were also manufactured here and that the government is following the pharma policy to encourage pharma companies. He assured that an ATC center is being set up in Genome Valley and that necessary technical support will be provided there.
Minister Sridhar Babu also said that the expansion of Lilly is a sign of the strong progress of Telangana industries. He clarified that employment and job opportunities will improve for the talents in the state. He explained that world-class companies are coming here to invest because of the progress made by Telangana in Ease of Doing Business.
Eli Lilly announced that it is setting up an advanced manufacturing unit in the country in Telangana. The company’s International President Patrick Johnson said that we are investing heavily worldwide to increase the capacity of drug manufacturing and supply.
He said that from here, Eli Lilly’s contract manufacturing network in the country will provide technical supervision, quality control and advanced technological capabilities. He said that with the establishment of the new hub, talented people in the pharmaceutical sector in Telangana as well as the country will get job opportunities, and that soon they will be recruiting chemists, analytical scientists, quality control, management experts, and engineers.
