Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have taken legal action against YouTube over the use of their images in AI-generated videos and content. The celebrity couple filed a ₹4 crore defamation lawsuit against the video-sharing platform, alleging unauthorized use of their photos and videos without consent. Their legal move followed a complaint filed in the Delhi High Court, where they argued that their images were being misused online. The court ruled in their favor, leading them to pursue further action against YouTube for defamation.
According to reports from Bollywood, YouTube has responded to the legal pressure by removing a significant amount of AI-generated content related to the duo. The platform reportedly deleted hundreds of videos and images, including a dedicated AI account associated with the couple. These videos, which totaled 259, had amassed more than 16 million views before their removal.
The incident highlights growing concerns over the misuse of AI-generated content and its legal implications in India’s digital space. The couple’s legal victory and subsequent defamation case underscore the importance of consent and intellectual property rights in the age of artificial intelligence. YouTube’s compliance with the court order reflects the increasing scrutiny tech platforms face regarding user-generated content involving public figures.
