Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has asserted that the Polavaram Project will be dedicated to the nation by December 2027 and the Rayalaseema and North Andhra projects will also be completed as promised. He made it clear that development will be possible when water security is provided to all the people of the state. That is why, he said that the coalition government will give top priority to interlinking rivers.
The Chief Minister made it clear that if there is a flood in an area in the future, that water will be diverted and the drought-stricken area will be used. A short discussion was held on the issue of efficient water management in the state as part of the assembly sessions.
Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu initiating the discussion said that the pending irrigation projects are being completed by paying off the debts inherited by the YSRCP government. Nimmala explained that all projects will be completed according to their respective priorities and that a specific plan has been made for that.
Several MLAs who participated in the discussion urged the government to form a special corporation to complete irrigation projects. Later, CM Chandrababu Naidu, who responded to the discussion, clarified that water is one of the top 10 plans set by his government. That is why he said he is giving top priority to water management.
The Chief Minister said that 94 percent of the water is stored in the reservoirs of the state, but a lot of water still goes to waste in the sea. That is why he has taken up the interlinking of rivers. Explaining through a PowerPoint presentation that the YSRCP government had shown endless negligence on irrigation projects, the CM said that the projects will be completed as per the plan within a specific time frame.
On this occasion, Jaganmohan Reddy’s previous comments on Pattiseema, Polavaram, Veligonda and Handreeniva were presented. At the same time, in addition to the works undertaken while his government was in power, the ongoing Polavaram works, the Krishna waters that have traveled a long coast and reached the Paramasamudram in Chittoor district, and the water aarti being given to them were also presented.
