Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said that they have come to their notice that there are some mistakes in the smart cards, as the cards were printed based on eKYC and Aadhaar, and that these mistakes were due to the lack of change of names and addresses, and that if changes need to be made in the ration card, applications should be made at the secretariats.
He said that this facility will be available across the state till October 31. From next week, applications for changes in the card can also be applied for on the Mana Mitra app. He said that 1.45 crore smart cards are being distributed in four phases at the respective ration card shops, village and ward secretariats. He said that these cards are being provided to the people in two installments based on eKYC.
Manohar said that Andhra Pradesh is the only state in the country that has done 96.5 percent eKYC. He said that smart ration cards will be distributed in all districts from the 15th of this month. Since there is portability, it is possible to take the goods from any ration shop. He said that the village and ward secretariat staff are now going door to door and distributing the cards to the people.
The Minister assured that rice and other commodities will be distributed transparently to the white ration card holders through 29,796 ration shops across the state every month. He said that smart rice cards with QR code with new technology have been distributed at 85 percent and 95 percent of the districts mentioned in the schedule, at ration shops and village and ward secretariats in some places and in other places.
Manohar said that they are going to the homes of the elderly without any hassle to the people. If you have any problems at the ration shop, you can scan the QR code set up at the shop on your phone and inform them about the problem you have faced there. From November 1, he said on paying a nominal fee of Rs. 35, new smart ration cards are being sent to your home through a registered post through the postal department.
He said that these smart cards will be provided free of charge in the specified areas till October 31. He clarified that if you do not take ration for three consecutive months, your ration card will be cancelled. However, if you go to the secretariats after that and provide the correct information, your ration card will be activated again.
