Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have been granted anticipatory bail by the Rajasthan High Court in a case related to their alleged promotion of a car lacking proper safety standards. The court also stayed the FIR filed against six other individuals connected to the matter, providing temporary relief to all the accused.
The case was filed by Bharathpur-based lawyer Keerthi Singh, who claimed she purchased a Hyundai car based on the actors’ endorsements. After discovering multiple defects in the vehicle, she alleged that Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and the others misled consumers, prompting her to file a complaint. Following the FIR, she approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
During the hearing, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Shah Rukh Khan, argued that his client had no direct role in the car’s manufacturing or quality control and was only involved in brand promotion. Deepika Padukone’s lawyer, Madhav Mitra, presented similar arguments. After considering both sides, the court granted anticipatory bail to the actors and other accused, adjourning the case for further proceedings on September 25.
