Emergency Cell Set Up At AP Bhavan To Assist Telugu Citizens In Nepal

In view of the ongoing turmoil in Nepal, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has set up an Emergency Cell at AP Bhavan, New Delhi, to provide immediate support and ensure the safety of Telugu citizens currently stranded in Nepal. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and officials of AP Bhavan to extend all possible support to affected Telugu citizens. Rammohan Naidu is also in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to monitor developments. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is working in close coordination with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

Dr. Arja Srikanth, Commissioner of AP Bhavan, has spoken with  Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, who assured that the Embassy will extend full support and assistance to Telugu nationals during this difficult time. Currently, around 30 Telugu citizens stranded in Bafal, Kathmandu are being assisted by the Embassy.

Arrangements for food, accommodation, medical aid, and safety monitoring are in place. Government has reassured families back home that every effort is being made to safeguard the welfare of Telugu people in Nepal. The Emergency Cell will function round-the-clock, coordinating with the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Further updates will be issued as the situation evolves. Apparently, a few Telugu families are currently staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Kathmandu. Reports indicate that agitators have been gathering in groups and knocking at the doors of the hotel. The hotel management has conveyed that there is a likelihood of renewed attacks during the night, with threats of possible arson.

As a precautionary measure, the management has decided to shift all Telugu families to a nearby guest house to ensure their safety. Andhra Bhavan officials said that they are in constant touch with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and coordinating through local representatives to safeguard the welfare of these families.
