Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out an intensified action plan to combat ganja cultivation and narcotics smuggling, directing officials to dismantle networks and target their financial sources.
At a sub-committee meeting chaired by Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha in Undavalli on Thursday, ministers Nara Lokesh, Kollu Ravindra, Satyakumar Yadav, Gummadi Sandhya Rani, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, and senior officials reviewed ongoing measures. The panel recommended deploying drones, satellite imagery, and AI tools to track illegal cultivation in hill regions, alongside strict border coordination with neighboring states.
A centralized RTGS dashboard will be set up to integrate intelligence inputs, surveillance data, and case progress. The government also directed awareness drives in schools and colleges through “Eagle Clubs,” tribal outreach via ITDAs, and expanded de-addiction facilities under the health department. Officials were instructed to expedite investigations, file charge sheets promptly, and ensure swift convictions.
