Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday inspected the buildings constructed on Rushikonda during the previous YSRCP government tenure. He was accompanied by Ministers Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh. During the visit, Pawan Kalyan reviewed the structures and facilities, while the ministers briefed him on the expenditure incurred by the previous administration. He expressed surprise at the modern bedrooms and bathrooms and instructed immediate repairs to address the deteriorating areas. Officials also informed him of an ongoing NGT case related to the site.
Addressing the media, Pawan Kalyan said, “Out of seven blocks, only four were completed, with an expenditure of Rs 454 crore. Earlier, several obstacles were created to prevent us from accessing these properties. While Haritha Resorts generated an annual income of Rs 7 crore, the current electricity bill alone is Rs 15 lakh. Damage that should have been prevented has already occurred, with peeling plaster and leakages in some areas.”
He further stated, “These buildings were constructed for the Chief Minister’s residence, but we are now exploring how to develop them under tourism. We are assessing the best way to utilize these structures. The issue of the Rushikonda buildings should be discussed on the Assembly floor to determine a proper course of action.”
