Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the urea that was supposed to come from China did not arrive due to the ‘Operation Sindoor’ war with Pakista,n and the war between Ukraine and Russia and the tensions between Israel and Iran are also the reasons for the urea shortage in Telangana. In an open letter to farmers on Monday, he said that those two wars did not occur during the BRS regime.
He finally admitted that there is a urea shortage in Telangana and said that he is worried about the urea shortage. He clarified that the problems have arisen due to the lack of fertilizer stocks. However, stating that the Russia-Ukraine war began on February 24, 2022, and tensions have continued since then, farmers are questioning how the BRS government was able to supply urea in 2023 if that is the reason?
They wondered that the urea shortage, which did not arise during the height of the war, is now occurring under conditions that seem to be easing? The minister’s letter is also being widely discussed on social media. Netizens are furious that there are always tensions somewhere in the world and that it is cruel to use them as an excuse for the shortage of urea in the state.
They are criticizing the short-sighted Congress government, the CM and the ministers as gimmick politics to evade responsibility. Meanwhile, Tummala accused said that the shortage of urea has arisen due to the incompetence of the central government. But the letter deplored that BRS leaders are trying to blame this failure on the state government.
Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the state is likely to receive 35,000 metric tons of urea this week due to the pressure brought to the center by the state government and Congress MPs. He has issued instructions to Agriculture Department Director Gopi to distribute it to the districts as per the demand for urea, the same amount that has come to the state.
