Friday, December 5, 2025

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao revealed that the central government has promised to immediately allocate 62,000 metric tons of urea to the state, which will reach the state within a week. He said that the center has ordered to immediately transfer urea to Telangana from the states of Gujarat and Karnataka. With this, the minister revealed that urea will reach Telangana from the respective states within a week.

It is known that Telangana MPs protested on the Parliament premises on Tuesday over the supply of urea. Congress MPs Forum Chairman Dr. Mallu Ravi said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Tummala directly explained to Union Minister JP Nadda for urea and that they too have met him many times as MPs.

He said that they came forward to provide urea only because they had met the minister many times. They met the minister in Delhi on Tuesday under the leadership of Dr. Mallu Ravi. Later, he told the media that all the MPs have been fighting for urea for a week and have also moved an adjournment motion in Parliament.

MP Chamala Kiran Reddy said that the minister had promised to provide 62,000 metric tons of urea to the state in a week. He clarified that the minister had said that 14,000 metric tons of this had already been sent to the state, which will reach in a day or two. He said that the Union minister had said that 48,000 metric tons of urea would be provided in the next week.

Earlier, Khammam Congress MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy has accused the central government of doing injustice in the allocation of urea to Telangana and alleged the center is neglecting the supply of urea needed by the state’s farmers. On Tuesday, he participated in a protest demonstration along with Congress MPs in the Parliament premises. They held placards and protested against the central government’s behavior.

Raghuram Reddy demanded that the 3 lakh metric tons of urea that should come to Telangana state be  supplied immediately. He said that it is not right to stop what should come to the state just for politics and that this is against the spirit of democracy. He made it clear that he will continuously fight on behalf of the farmers in this matter.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that due to the shortage of 2.98 lakh metric tons of urea in the state, the farmers are not being able to provide enough urea for the crop at once. He alleged that the shortage has arisen due to non-supply of urea to the state as per the allocations.
