The discrimination initiated by the BJP against Telangana continues, but not a BJP MP or MLA in the state raising their voice. The Semiconductor project, earlier sanctioned by the Manmohan Singh government, was shifted to Gujarat soon after the Narendra Modi government formed at the Center.
The Union Cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned four new Semiconductor projects, including one for neighbouring AP, but ignored Telangana claims. The central government has once again shown a stubborn hand to the Congress-ruled states.
By giving grants only to the NDA-ruled states, it seems to have strengthened the allegations of discrimination towards non-BJP governments. Similarly, the Union Cabinet, which also gave approvals to Lucknow Metro Phase-1, is adamant about giving permission for the construction of Hyderabad Metro Phase-2.
No matter how many times Congress ministers, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, have submitted memorandums to the center, it is turning a deaf ear. Even during the previous BRS’s tenure, the Centre had repeatedly appealed to it to grant permission for the second phase of the Metro, but to no avail.
It may be recalled that Revanth Reddy had also decided to write a letter to the Prime Minister stating that Telangana had been treated unfairly in the selection of Padma awards, which was an insult. BRS and Congress leaders are criticizing the BJP government at the Centre for eleven years for denying the rights that Telangana should have after the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh state.
Not a single water project in the state has been granted national status. The Bayyaram Steel Factory was shelved. The IT Investment Region and IIM, which contribute to the creation of lakhs of jobs, have been forgotten. In the budget of the 11-year BJP government, Telangana has been treated unfairly every time.
There is an opinion that the Central Government has not allocated the financial resources that Telangana should have been entitled to. While Telangana’s share in the country’s GDP is 5.1 percent, only 2.10 percent of this comes back to Telangana.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, during his recent visit to Delhi, requested Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to give early approval to semiconductor projects in Telangana. He also submitted requests to Union Minister Vaishnav to set up electronics parks, sanction new railway lines, give early approval to the Regional Ring Rail, and set up a Kazipet Railway Division. However, to no avail.
