YSRCP slams DGP Avoiding Them of Meeting To submit A Memorandum on TDP violence In Pulivendula

Friday, December 5, 2025

A YSRCP delegation submitted a memorandum to the DGP office on Sunday, demanding an immediate response to the illegal behavior of the police, who have become pawns of the ruling TDP in the ongoing local body by-elections in the state, particularly in Pulivendula of Kadapa district.

They deplored that despite trying to meet the DGP for the last four days, he is avoiding them. So, they went directly to the DGP office and handed over the memorandum to the office staff.

The party leaders have requested the DGP to respond to the unprecedented situation in the state where the police have surrendered to the ruling party and are acting in a manner that makes a mockery of the law. They demanded to take steps to protect democracy and conduct fair elections.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, former minister Merugu Nagarjuna expressed his anger that since the nomination period for the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election began, the TDP members have started behaving in a way that makes a mockery of the entire election process with attacks and atrocities.

He criticized that the anarchy being perpetrated by the ruling TDP with the police machinery in their hands has gone unchecked. MLC Lella Appi Reddy criticized the police’s behavior in the Pulivendula and Ontimitta ZPTC by-elections as a sign of democracy. He said that the way they are acting in favor of the ruling TDP raises doubts about whether there is democracy in this state.

Appi Reddy said that the DGP is there to protect the law and democracy, but the police department is working like activists for the political interests of the ruling party. He wondered why the DGP is not responding to their plea of a meeting to submit a memorandum?

He expressed surprise at how they could understand that the DGP avoided the opposition when it was trying to bring the developments to his attention for four days? Under whose pressure is the DGP in such a helpless position that he cannot even freely accept a petition from a delegation from the opposition party?, he asked.
