The Telugu film industry is gearing up for a major entertainment weekend as two big-ticket films, Coolie and War 2, are scheduled to release worldwide on August 14.
Coolie, an action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring superstar Rajinikanth, has generated significant buzz. The film has already opened ticket bookings in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted Coolie an ‘A’ certificate. The movie runs for approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes. In celebration of Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema, a special 25-second tribute video will be showcased. Industry sources indicate that ticket bookings for Telugu-speaking states may commence starting Monday, though details on special premiere shows are yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, War 2, a spy action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand, features Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani in key roles. The film is slated to release simultaneously in three languages on August 14. The CBFC has certified War 2 with a ‘U/A’ certificate. The Hindi version runs for 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 24 seconds, while the Telugu and Tamil versions have a slightly shorter runtime of 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds.
A pre-release event for War 2 is scheduled for Sunday in Hyderabad. Ticket bookings for the Telugu states will open Monday. Producers are planning to release the film’s Hindi version alongside the Telugu release, although the Hindi version will be screened in a limited number of theaters.
