Information and Housing Minister Kolanu Parthasarathy said that the officials in the neighboring states are saying that the liquor policy brought by AP has reduced sales. With the availability of quality liquor in AP, the situation of smuggling liquor from neighboring states to our state like during the previous government has gone, he said.

He accused that the YSRCP, which said it would ban liquor, did not ban liquor but looted thousands of crores in the liquor scam. Moreover, he deplored that they played with the lives and property of the people with adulterated liquor. He alleged that surveys show that more than 30,000 people died after drinking liquor of those brands during the YSRCP regime. He lamented that no government in the country has done a worse job than this.

Parthasarathy said that many scams have come out in the country in the past, but the liquor scam that came out in AP is the biggest of them all. He lamented that the previous government played with the health of the people with the chief liquor mixed with toxic chemicals.

He expressed concern that buying tons of gold with the money earned by risking the lives and health of the people, trading mines abroad, laundering money through cell companies in places like Dubai, and doing real estate business, etc.

“Today, this scam is exposed through technology. Ten times more scams were committed in AP than the scam that took place in Delhi. If they tried to win the elections with the money looted through this scam, all the people should see how they have corrupted democracy”, he added..

The minister deplored that it was revealed that the liquor supplied by the government contained toxic chemicals along with alcohol. “The previous government played with the lives of the people by making crazy brands like Triple X, Triple R, Boom Boom and never heard of before. While not banning alcohol, they increased the prices that were then and put a financial burden on the poor”, he said.

He alleged that they sold liquor containing toxic chemicals at high prices and drove out the international brands available in the state. Stating that unable to drink toxic liquor, more than 1700 youth committed suicide by becoming addicted to marijuana, he deplored that youth who drank this brand of liquor are still hospitalized with kidney and liver problems.
