In Andhra Pradesh, a major controversy has erupted involving Balashowry Vallabhhaneni, the Jana Sena Party MP from Machilipatnam. He, along with his personal assistant Gopal Singh, is facing allegations of forging official MP letterheads and appointment letters. The duo is accused of tricking 60-70 unemployed individuals into paying amounts ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh, promising them central government contract jobs.
This scam has stirred a significant public outcry in the region, with the victims staging protests outside Balashowry’s office since Saturday afternoon. According to the victims, Gopal Singh used forged documents to mislead them, claiming that Balashowry could assist them in securing government jobs. Singh spread this false information through social media, leading the unemployed individuals to believe that paying the money would guarantee them jobs.
On the 1st of this month, Singh allegedly informed some victims about interviews scheduled in Vijayawada and instructed them to bring money. However, before they could reach Vijayawada, Singh had already collected the payments from them through phone calls and other means. Upon arriving in Vijayawada, the victims were shocked to find that the job offers were non-existent and realized they had been scammed.
In response to their realization, the victims staged a protest outside the MP office in Machilipatnam with the forged appointment letters and letterheads as proof. They have urged Balashowry and Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan to take responsibility and put the issue to rest.
The police have stepped in and taken away the forged documents from the victims, and it has been established that the documents were forged. Some of the victims have also given accounts of payments made by them. Gopal Singh has also gone missing, as no one has seen him at his office for the last two days. The police have promised to take further action, as directed by the higher authorities.
As of now, Balashowry Vallabhhaneni has yet to publicly address the controversy.
