Line cleared To Arrest Former CID Chief Sanjay After Supreme Court cancelled Bail Granted Earlier

Former Andhra Pradesh CID chief Sanjay has suffered a severe setback in the Supreme Court as it cancelled the bail granted earlier by the AP High Court. Moreover, it has ordered him to surrender before the court within three weeks. These are likely clear hurdles to arrest him.

Now, the investigating agency can file a petition in the magistrate court for Sanjay’s custody, a bench of Justice Amanutullah and Justice S.V.N. Bhatti said. It also said that Sanjay can approach the magistrate court seeking bail. It remains to be seen whether Sanjay will surrender in three weeks.

During the previous government, a case was registered against Sanjay for corruption in the funds related to the fire department. Due to this, Sanjay approached the AP High Court for anticipatory bail, and bail was granted. The AP government challenged the High Court’s verdict in the Supreme Court.

A Supreme Court bench of Justice Amanutullah and Justice S.V.N. Bhatti heard this petition. The verdict was delivered on Thursday after lengthy arguments. However, during the hearing of this petition, the Supreme Court bench expressed its anger over the High Court’s verdict, saying that the trial was completed at the anticipatory bail stage itself.

The Supreme Court expressed surprise at the AP High Court’s 49-page verdict granting anticipatory bail to Sanjay. It commented that the trial of the case was completed at the bail stage itself. Referring to the issues related to this case, it questioned how it was possible that 350 people attended each conference related to the fire department, not one more and one less.

It commented that those in important positions should check everything, and that it is not right to do this at will. During the previous government’s tenure, there were allegations that irregularities were committed in the contract given to the fire department, including the website and app, as well as many other issues.

There are allegations that the company paid money even though it did not do any work after the contract was handed over. Also, contracts were given to organize awareness seminars for Dalits and tribals on the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act under the auspices of the CID. There were allegations that irregularities were committed in the name of bills instead of organizing seminars.
