Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh directed officials to develop the Mangalagiri Gems and Jewellery Park as the best-in-class model in the country. During a review meeting with officials, Lokesh emphasized the need to expedite the construction of a Common Facility Center (CFC) with central government assistance. He instructed that the park must include facilities to provide world-class training in jewellery manufacturing and create infrastructure to attract top 20 jewellery brands in India to establish manufacturing units and retail outlets at the site.
Minister Lokesh also asked officials to study the operational model of the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) in Udupi to replicate best practices. Skill Development Corporation CEO Ganesh Kumar informed that the upcoming CFC and Center of Excellence (CoE) at the park are expected to train over 4,000 individuals annually in advanced jewellery-making techniques.
The park will encompass CoE, CFC, industrial, commercial, retail, residential, and infrastructure zones. Lokesh further directed officials to establish a Model Career Center (MCC) in Mangalagiri to provide career coaching, job matching, skill upgradation, and employer engagement services. Officials reported that of the 1,170 youth who participated in three job fairs held so far, 453 secured employment. Lokesh instructed the department to conduct monthly job fairs with a target of 100% youth employment in the region.
