Tollywood’s dynamic and outspoken producer Naga Vamsi is back in the news with his no-holds-barred statements. His frank nature is well known, and Vamsi did not spare words during a recent promotional interview for his highly anticipated film Kingdom, which features Vijay Deverakonda. His observations have raised high-level debates within the Telugu film industry and social media.
In the interview, Naga Vamsi made some extreme assertions about the validity of ratings and reviews on the popular ticket booking site BookMyShow. He claimed that most of the likes, reviews, and even Twitter buzz around new releases are actually manufactured through paid promotions. Vamsi conceded that production houses, including his own, have in the past spent money on inflating numbers to create artificial buzz about movies.
He further elaborated that this type of manipulative advertising has become a trend in the industry now. “If you notice that a movie is acquiring sudden likes or high ratings, chances are it’s more a result of paid campaigns than real audience responses,” he said.
Pointing out the severity of the matter, Vamsi announced that the Producers has already acted swiftly, opting to dissuade similar deceptive tactics. He urged the public not to buy a film based on online hype or social media fad alone. “Please don’t get swayed by BookMyShow likes or Twitter trends. Go to the cinema and make up your own mind,” he implored.
These remarks follow similar concerns recently voiced by senior producer Dil Raju, who disclosed how large sums are being spent on buying fake YouTube views and likes to falsely project success.
Coming to the film itself, Kingdom is shaping up to be a massive theatrical experience. The movie stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, paired opposite rising star Bhagyashri Borse.
The film is directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, best known for the critically acclaimed Jersey. Set against a historical action backdrop, Kingdom blends high-octane sequences with commercial appeal. The film is being jointly produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with Srikara Studios presenting the film.
Adding to the excitement, the music for Kingdom is done by no other than Anirudh Ravichander, whose recent hits have already generated a buzz.
With its big visuals, big cast, and solid technical team, Kingdom is ready to land on July 31. Promotions are on in full swing now, and the producers are leaving no stone in making a grand opening.
