Bollywood is about to embark on a mythological epic, launching Ramayana, an extravagant undertaking of a film, unlike any in recent memory. Directed by well-respected filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being made into two films, and the buzz is already high before the film is even released.
The cast of Ramayana is led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash in the menacing role of Ravana. The teaser, though brief at only a few minutes, had a lasting impression and provided audiences with a glimpse into the epic scale and storytelling prowess this film has to offer. From breathtaking costume design to rich world-building, Ramayana is set to whisk viewers into the midst of the ancient epic.
One of the most thrilling aspects of the film is the casting of Sunny Deol as Hanuman. But sources indicate that Hanuman will appear in a limited screen time of 15 minutes in Part 1. His proper introduction and heroic sequences are being kept for Part 2, which will focus on the grand Rama-Ravana war. The second part promises to have such legendary scenes as Hanuman burning Lanka, flying with the Sanjeevani-carrying mountain, and being instrumental in Rama’s fight against evil.
Part 1 of the movie is finished and the crew is moving quickly on the production of Part 2. In a show of confidence in the story and the work, director Nitesh Tiwari is continuing with Part 2 without regard to the box office of Part 1.
Part 1 is due to be released as planned for Diwali 2025 and by all measures the anticipation is already at an all-time high. A strong cast, advanced technology, and compelling character-driven storytelling promise Ramayana to be a landmark event in Indian cinema.
