The former MLA of Gannavaram Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan greeted YSRCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, a day after his release from Vijayawada Central Jail. Vamsi himself went to the Tadepalli house of Jagan to offer his sincere appreciation for the wholehearted support he had received during his trying legal fight. The party chief welcomed him warmly and inquired with concern about his physical and mental well-being.
Vamsi regained his liberty on Wednesday after being in judicial custody for almost 140 days. He was booked in 11 cases, one of which was a high-profile kidnapping case, due to which he had been arrested on February 13. After a long legal battle and securing bail in all the cases, Vamsi was finally let out. Despite the fact that the state government had opposed his bail in a mining case by moving to the Supreme Court, the court permitted him to be released by declining to impose a stay on the order of bail.
After his release, Vamsi came back home in a low-key fashion with his wife, Pankaja Sri, and his lawyers. Although several YSRCP leaders and activists waited outside the jail to welcome him, Vamsi chose a low-key mode and proceeded directly to his home. The very next day, he met Jagan at his residence in Tadepalli.
During his incarceration, Jagan personally visited Vamsi at Vijayawada prison, assuring him of full party backing and all necessary legal assistance. In the meantime, the YSRCP entrusted the responsibilities of the Gannavaram constituency to Vamsi’s wife, Pankaja Sri. When Vamsi faced health challenges, the party made sure he received prompt medical care along with legal support.
On Thursday, with his wife, Vamsi provided express appreciation for Jagan’s unwavering support and guidance during this tough period. The meeting marks an important political rebound for Vamsi with the YSRCP leadership supporting him in preparing to commence a major return to active politics.
