AP Government To Move The Supreme Court Against Bail Granted To Vallabhaneni Vamsy By High Court

Friday, December 5, 2025

In a major setback to former Gannavaram MLA and YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to move the Supreme Court against the bail granted to him by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The government has issued instructions to the Advocate on Records in the Supreme Court to this effect.

It is known that the AP Police has registered a case based on the vigilance report on illegal soil mining in Gannavaram constituency from 2019 to 2024. Vamsi had previously filed a petition in the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case of illegal mining in Krishna district. The High Court, which heard this petition, granted relief to Vamsi.

However, Vamsi, who was in jail facing trial in other cases, was unable to get out of jail. Later, the High Court allowed him to seek treatment in a hospital due to ill health. Vamsi took treatment for this. Recently, the High Court Public Prosecutor submitted a report to the AP government suggesting to approach the Supreme Court on the bail granted by the High Court.

Vigilance officials have found that the government has suffered a loss of Rs. 195 crore due to illegal soil excavation. The government has decided to challenge the High Court’s bail in the Supreme Court in a case involving such huge losses. The Principal Secretary of the Home Department has issued a G.O. directing the government’s Advocate on Records to take immediate action.

The AP government is likely to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court on Monday to cancel the bail granted to Vamsi by the High Court. In this context, the decision taken by the Supreme Court in the matter of Vamsi has become crucial. This matter will become a headache for Vamsi, who is already suffering from illness and facing one case after another case, so that he will be confined to jail.
