Journalist VVR Krishnam Raju, who was arrested for his abusive comments against Amaravati women during a news debate in Sakshi TV, has reportedly admitted in police custody that he was mistaken by making such derogatory comments. Stating that he should not have made such cruel comments and what he did was wrong, he said that after coming out from jail he would release a video apologizing to his sisters.
Moreover, he confessed that Sakthi TV used his weakness as a pawn for their vindictive politics. Krishnam Raju, who is A1 in the Amaravati dirty comments case, was questioned by the police at the Thullur Traffic Police Station on the third day of his three-day police custody on Sunday. He was questioned in the presence of the accused’s lawyer and mediators from 11 am to 6 pm.
After the three-day custody ends, he will be produced in the Mangalagiri court on Monday and sent to jail. When the police asked him why he made dirty comments against women in the capital area, he said that he had developed animosity towards Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the Telugu Desam Party since suspecting that he was responsible for losing his job in an English newspaper.
He explained that Sakshi TV invited him to participate in their TV debates after observing he was making videos against Chandrababu and the TDP. As he has been facing `identity crisis’ to get recognition and no other TV giving him such an opportunity, he said he accepted their invitation expecting that would provide him a platform to be in the `lime light’.
“I felt that I had no importance in myself and that I had gained recognition by being called for discussions by Sakshi Channel. They used my opposition to TDP and Chandrababu. They used my weakness. I became a pawn in their factionalism”, he added.
With regard to his dirty comments depicting Amaravati women as `prostitutes’, he revealed that on the previous day they provided him some inputs to be talked about in the show and he did not realize such abusive comments would be derogatory.
“They gave me some information the day before making the outrageous comments that day. I did not realize that such an outrageous situation would arise. I spoke randomly with the information they gave me,” Krishnam Raju is reported to have said during the police interrogation. The police asked more than a 100 questions in custody. The police will submit a report to the court on the information collected during the interrogation.
