Kadapa MLA- Mayor cold war Threatening Dissolution of Governing Body?

Friday, December 5, 2025

Will the cold war between Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy (TDP) and Mayor Suresh Babu (YSRCP), which has been going on for some time at the Municipal Corporation, finally lead to the dissolution of the Corporation’s governing body?

The technical issue arising due to the dispute at the General Body Meeting venue on Friday indicates a threat to the tenure of the Corporation’s governing body.

Already the Mayor is continuing in power with High Court’s order after the Municipal Administration terminated him on charges of irregularities. The officials have made all the arrangements in the meeting hall for the general body meeting of the Kadapa Municipal Corporation.

Chairs have been arranged for the Mayor, Commissioner and MLAs of Kadapa and Kamalapuram. Meanwhile, Mayor Suresh Babu has arranged the meeting in his chamber instead of the meeting hall. YCP members also present in the Mayor’s chamber instead of coming to the meeting hall.

With this, Mayor Suresh Babu expressed his anger as to why the officials had placed chairs for the general body meeting in the meeting hall without his knowledge? However,  Kadapa MLA Reddappa Madhavi expressed her anger after sitting in the meeting hall along with 8 of TDP corporators and waiting for a long time, but the meeting did not start.

The mayor said that he had written a letter to the commissioner in advance to hold the meeting in his chamber. Madhavi Reddy expressed her anger as to how the meeting could be held in violation of the rules? She was furious that the meeting was held in the mayor’s chamber instead of in the meeting hall.

After some time, Kadapa Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manoj Reddy also came to the meeting hall and waited. Meanwhile, the officials have pasted notices to Mayor Suresh Babu’s chamber stating that the meeting was arranged in the council hall itself as per the notice given on the 13th of this month.

It was clarified that this meeting should be considered postponed due to the lack of quorum members. At the same time, the technical issue came to the fore. Six months will have passed since the corporation held its general meeting on the 22nd of this month.

According to the rules, if the meeting is not held within six months, the mayor and the corporators will lose their positions. Although the meeting was held on Friday, the officials clarified that it did not take place due to lack of quorum, so now the issue of tenure has come to the fore. Now, with no time for the meeting, the future of Kadapa Corporation is becoming a matter of suspense.
