The phones of 650 Telangana Congress Party leaders were tapped in Telangana.
It came to light in the SIT investigation that the phones of union ministers G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and APCC President YS Sharmila were also tapped. It is reported that every issue related to Sharmila’s phone contacts were conveyed to her brother and AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
On the other hand, the SIT officials are recording statements from the victims in the phone tapping affair. As part of that, TPPC President Mahesh Kumar Goud appeared before the SIT investigation officers on Tuesday. He explained to the SIT officers what difficulties they faced due to this tapping.
The BRS government tried to seize power for the third time. In that order, it focused on the opposition leaders in the state, as well as leaders who were acting against their own party, as well as many leaders in neighboring states. As part of that, their phones were tapped. However, in the elections held at the end of 2018, the Telangana voter voted for the Congress party.
However, the phone tapping issue unexpectedly came to the fore. With this, the Revanth Reddy government handed over the matter to the SIT. On the other hand, as soon as this matter came to light, former IPS officer Prabhakar Rao, who played a key role in this phone tapping, left for the US.
With this, the SIT officials arrested and interrogated the involvement of the remaining officials in the matter. They made it clear to the SIT officials that they acted in this way on the orders of Prabhakar Rao. With this, an attempt was made to extradite Prabhakar Rao in the US to India. He therefore approached the Supreme Court.
He returned to Hyderabad with key orders from the Supreme Court and appeared before the SIT officials for questioning. It is reported that he initially evaded questions during the SIT officials’ interrogation. It is understood that the SIT officials extracted key information from him during the subsequent interrogation.
It is said that the phones of Revanth Reddy’s close associates Gali Anil and Vinay Reddy were tapped, and that the phones of the leaders were tapped during the elections and money was seized. Money dealings of the opposition leaders were learned through tapping the phones. It was through tapping that it was found that the current Minister Ponguleti and MLA Rajagopal Reddy seized money from the companies.
