Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is said to have expressed his anger over the increasing fees in engineering colleges every time. He has reportedly cautioned that if these fees continue to increase like this, no student will come forward to join the convener quota seats. During a review on Education, the officials presented a report on the finalization of new fees for engineering colleges for the next three years (2025-26, 2026-27, 2027-28).
CM Revanth Reddy brushed aside the proposal by asking, ‘Is there a need to increase B.Tech tuition fees? However, let’s see about that later.’ After examining this report, he wondered what is the basis for the increase in fees? Why are they increasing it every time? Are the rules being followed or not? What is the quality of education they provide?.
It is reported that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to conduct a more in-depth and scientific study. The previous government sent 40 vigilance teams to colleges in the 2016 academic year and had the records checked.
Where are those reports? It is reported that they have inquired about the details of what steps were taken following them. On this occasion, when the officials mentioned the regulation of fees in private schools, it seems that the CM has instructed the officials to enact a law on the regulation of school fees on the lines of engineering education and to conduct a comprehensive study.
Counseling for filling B.Tech seats in the current academic year (2025-26) is to be held in the first or second week of July. The government needs to issue a GO by finalizing the fees. In the wake of the CM’s order to conduct a more comprehensive study, doubts are arising as to whether this process will be completed within a month?
In the past, as the new fees were not finalized on time, the management collected the old ones. After the new ones were finalized, a provision was made to collect additional fees accordingly. Will the same be done this time too? Or whether it will be postponed to this year remains to be seen.
