The fact that Congress MLAs and MLCs from parliamentary constituencies represented by BJP MPs did not get a place in the Revanth Reddy cabinet has become a topic of discussion. While there are a total of 17 MP seats in the state, eight MPs are from Congress, eight from BJP and one from MIM.
While BJP MPs are represented from Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Medak, Secunderabad, Chevella and Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituencies, only those from Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar MP constituencies have been given ministerial posts.
Among them, Kodangal Assembly constituency represented by CM Revanth, and Maktal, the newly appointed minister of Vakiti Srihari constituency, are also under the Mahabubnagar MP constituency. Husnabad, represented by Ponnam Prabhakar, is under the Karimnagar MP seat.
It is noteworthy that no Congress MLA or MLC has been given a ministerial post in the Nizamabad, Adilabad, Medak, Secunderabad, Chevella and Malkajgiri seats, which are represented by the remaining BJP MPs.
There is an opinion on social media that the Congress party has not inducted ministers from here as part of the ongoing compromise between the BJP and the Congress. There is a debate on whether any adjustments have been made to this extent as a result of the mutual cooperation in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections?
It is being analyzed that the reasons for this include those who contested as BJP MPs joining hands with Congress leaders for their victory, and those who contested as Congress MLAs cooperating with BJP MP candidates.
There are whispers within the Congress and BJP that Revanth’s indecent remarks at the book launch of Governor Bandaru Dattatreya that he studied at Modi School and Chandrababu College and is working for Rahul Gandhi are adding strength to this.
The northern Telangana region is facing severe discrimination in the Revanth cabinet, though most BJP MPs and MLAs are from this region. In the government formed in 2023, no one from the joint districts of Jamabad, Adilabad, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy got a ministerial post.
In the cabinet expansion carried out after 18 months, Gaddam Vivek got a place from the joint Adilabad district. This time too, the joint districts of Nizamabad, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy had to be stubborn.
