The ongoing sand smuggling in the state is causing problems for the Telugu Desam- Jana Sena- BJP coalition government in power in the state led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. TDP leaders are expressing their dissatisfaction and intolerance towards the illegal sand smuggling.
Senior TDP leader and former MLA SVSN Verma expressed concern that the intensity of this is even greater in the Pithapuram constituency of Kakinada district, which is represented by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. SVSN Verma expressed his anger that sand is being illegally mined on the Mallivarithota coast of U Kothapalli mandal.
He criticized that sand is being transported in large quantities in lorries at night and the police who are supposed to stop them are acting as if it is dark. He argued that they need to be given special glasses. Varma inspected the area where illegal sand mining continued in Mallivari Thota on Saturday.
Varma said that if farmers or people from poor families dig four pots of soil for their needs, the police are arresting them. Don’t the district authorities and police machinery see that sand is being transported in hundreds of lorries?, he asked. Varma alleged that some Jana Sena leaders from Kothapalli mandal are supporting those who are transporting sand illegally.
Verma expressed his anger that the same trend is continuing in Ramanakkapeta too, and wondered why is it not visible to the police or revenue officials even though 200 to 300 lorries of sand are being transported illegally every day? He alleged that the police are colluding with sand smugglers.
He said that people are angry about the illegal transportation of sand and demanded that illegal sand mining and transportation be stopped. He said that the TDP coalition government needs to issue orders to the district authorities and police in this regard.
