YSR Congress Party MLC and ex-minister Botsa Satyanarayana collapsed suddenly during a protest rally organized under the aegis of the “Betrayal Day” (Vennupotu Dinam) demonstrations against the ruling coalition government of Andhra Pradesh.
The YSRCP organized rallies across Andhra Pradesh on June 4 to mark the first anniversary of the 2024 election results, which brought the alliance government to power. The party accused the current administration of failing to deliver on its promises, especially the much-hyped “Super Six” schemes.
Botsa participated in the protest at his home constituency of Cheepurupalli, covering more than 1.5 kilometers under scorching summer sun, along with other party workers and leaders. When he arrived, he got on a campaign bus to give a speech. During his speech, he suddenly collapsed.
Party workers and local leaders took him in haste to a local hospital. Initial reports indicate that heatstroke could be the reason. Doctors are keeping a close watch on his condition, and an official health bulletin is awaited.
