Vijayawada: To ensure there are no irregularities in the public distribution system, the Andhra Pradesh government will distribute essential commodities through ration shops, said State Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar. The minister held a review meeting with collectors and officials from the Civil Supplies Department in Vijayawada. As per the coalition government’s decision, dealers have been directed to prepare for essential goods distribution via ration shops starting June 1.
Minister Manohar urged ration dealers to work in a manner that brings good reputation to the government, in line with the expectations of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. He emphasized that ration dealers, who previously acted as heads of families for cardholders, should continue to work sincerely and provide respectful service to beneficiaries.
He instructed officials to maintain cleanliness around ration shops, ensure correct weighing of commodities, and set up price boards, stock boards, and posters at the shops.
The minister also announced that ration commodities would be delivered at home for differently-abled persons and senior citizens aged 65 and above. Distribution should be completed even on Sundays from the 1st to the 15th of every month. He urged authorities to take the initiative to distribute ration commodities to differently-abled persons and senior citizens by the 5th of each month.
Manohar mentioned that continuous updates through WhatsApp groups will help beneficiaries receive goods without any inconvenience. He clarified that if technical issues arise, alternative arrangements must be made to ensure uninterrupted distribution to cardholders. Service camps for repairs of e-PoS and weighing machines have been set up in every district.
