Public are angry towards Kavali 2 Town Circle Inspector of Police Giri Babu’s `special treatment’ to former YSRCP MLA Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy, who was present in the police station on Friday for the hearing in the pylon destruction case.
Ramireddy came to the police station for the hearing. In this sequence, the CI, who went to Ramireddy’s car, greeted him and personally took him inside the station. With this, the locals are angry at the behavior of the CI. Given the behavior of the police, the locals are expressing doubts about how the investigation will be transparent.
During the Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, the then MLA and current former MLA Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy went with some people and destroyed the pylon of the Central Government’s Amruth scheme. Ramireddy is an A8 accused in this case. He went to the High Court and got anticipatory bail in this case.
Meanwhile, the police have issued notices to Ramireddy to appear for questioning in the pylon demolition case. CI Giribabu is the investigating officer in that case. Having received the notices, Ramireddy arrived at the Two Town Police Station for questioning.
As soon as he came to know about his arrival, CI Giribabu ran to the car, greeted Ramireddy and took him with him to the police station. These scenes have now become a hot topic in Kavali. Questions are being raised about the need for CI Giribabu, who is an investigating officer, to show such courtesy to a former YSRCP MLA.
There are allegations that the police are acting like puppets to YSRCP leaders. It is known that when former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy came to the court recently, he insulted the police by saying that he would bring them anywhere and tear them to pieces and grab their collar.
However, there is widespread criticism that the police have not changed their approach. Meanwhile, out of 12 accused in the pylon destruction case, four of them are in remand. The rest are absconding. Rami Reddy is the only one who has obtained anticipatory bail in this case.
