The ongoing divorce proceedings between Tamil actor Jayam Ravi and his wife Aarthi were taken up for hearing at the Family Welfare Court in Chennai. Both parties appeared before the court, where Aarthi filed a petition seeking a monthly alimony of ₹40 lakh. The court directed the couple to undergo counseling in a bid to explore the possibility of reconciliation.
However, according to legal sources, Jayam Ravi has conveyed his unwillingness to continue the marital relationship. His counsel reportedly urged the court to grant a formal divorce. In light of this, Aarthi moved her alimony petition. The court adjourned the next hearing to June 12.
Jayam Ravi had announced the separation last year, which Aarthi later contested, alleging she was not consulted before the public statement. Speculations surrounding the couple’s rift have intensified due to the actor’s reported closeness with singer Kenisha. Aarthi, in social media posts, accused Ravi of neglecting responsibilities during their 18-year marriage and stated that she is fighting for the future of their children. Ravi, meanwhile, alleged emotional and financial control by Aarthi. Responding to this, Aarthi claimed a third person was responsible for the fallout and affirmed that she possesses evidence. She added that she would refrain from further public statements and expressed faith in the judicial process.
