Justice PC Ghosh Commission has issued notices to former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao asking him to appear before the Kaleshwaram Commission on June 5. Similar notices were also served to T Harish Rao and BJP MP Etala Rajender, who served as ministers during the BRS regime.
Harish Rao served as the Irrigation Minister and Etala Rajender as the Finance Minister during KCR’s tenure. It has been stated that KCR should appear for the hearing on June 5, Harish Rao on June 6, and Etala Rajender on June 9. It is known that the Justice PC Ghosh Commission is conducting an inquiry into the barrages built as part of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
In the wake of the collapse of the Medigadda Barrage, the Telangana state government has appointed a judicial inquiry commission to conduct an inquiry into the Sundilla and Annaram barrages. This commission was formed in March 2024 under the leadership of former Supreme Court judge Justice PC Ghosh.
The commission has already questioned senior officials of the construction, management, design, quality control, pay and accounts, irrigation, and finance departments, as well as representatives of construction companies. The Telangana government has already extended the commission’s term 7 times.
It extended the term for only one month at the end of last month. Accordingly, the commission’s term is ending by the end of this month. There is talk that Justice PC Ghosh will submit his final report to the government on the 21st or 22nd of this month.
During the interrogation of the top officials, many said that decisions were made in the presence of KCR and that many decisions were implemented only on his orders. In this context, it seems that the commission has decided to also know the opinions of KCR, Harish Rao, and Etala Rajender on the decisions made at that time. With this, notices have been issued to all of them and they have been asked to appear for the investigation.
