The AP government has taken action against former YSRCP minister Dr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy for encroaching forest lands. Forest officials have registered cases against him for encroaching forest lands and constructing a farmhouse in Pulicherla mandal under Punganur constituency.
Cases have been registered against Dr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, his son Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy, his younger brother Tamballapalle MLA Dwarakanath Reddy, and Peddireddy’s younger brother’s wife Indira. A case has been filed against them for encroaching forest lands and causing harm to biodiversity.
A noose is tightening around Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy in the matter of encroaching forest lands. The forest officials, who determined that he had encroached on land in the Mangalampet forest area of Pulicherla mandal in Chittoor district and had caused harm to biodiversity, registered cases under the AP Forest Act and Wildlife Protection Act.
Following allegations against Dr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on encroachment on forest lands, the government formed a committee with Chittoor Collector Sumit Kumar, SP Manikantha, and Forest Conservator Yashodabai. The committee confirmed that Peddireddy and his family members had encroached on 27.98 acres of forest land.
Officials concluded that boreholes were dug without permission and that over one crore rupees had been lost to biodiversity due to encroachment on forest land. The government, which is taking action against Dr. Peddireddy’s irregularities, has also taken up programs to protect the encroached land. Boundary stones are being planted up to the forest area. A charge sheet will be filed in the Pakala court soon.
On the other hand, police officials are deliberating on the issue as Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed to register criminal cases against Dr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy’s family members. They are collecting details of the revenue and forest department officials who were involved in Dr. Peddireddy’s irregularities. There is a possibility of disciplinary action being taken against them by the department.
