Big Blow To Daggubati Suresh In Supreme Court Over Visakhapatnam Studio Land Issue

Friday, December 5, 2025

In a significant legal setback, veteran film producer and Suresh Productions chairman Daggubati Suresh was disappointed today as the Supreme Court declined to provide interim relief in his ongoing case against the Andhra Pradesh government over land assigned for Ramanaidu Studios in Visakhapatnam. The top court upheld the state’s stand, which was a difficult time for the veteran producer.

The issue revolves around 14 acres of valuable land that were originally allocated for establishing Ramanaidu Studios. Yet, it’s claimed that part of the land was diverted for purposes other than its authorized intention. Whereas the earlier YSRCP regime had given sanction for this purpose, the latest coalition government that came to office a year ago served notices challenging why the initial sanction should be cancelled.

To these notices, Suresh Productions had approached the Supreme Court, challenging the Andhra Pradesh government’s action. The matter was heard today by a bench led by Justice Abhay Oka. The court however refused to give interim orders, instead advising the production house to address the matter in the appropriate state court.

Taking the court’s suggestion, Suresh Productions sought permission to withdraw its petition, which the Supreme Court accepted. This means the legal battle will now continue at the state level.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government remains firm on its decision to reclaim the disputed land. It has already served notices to Suresh Productions, demanding a detailed explanation. With the Supreme Court stepping aside from the issue, attention now turns to what action the state government will take next as the high-profile land dispute moves forward.
