In the transfers of IAS officers, Smita Sabharwal was transferred from the Tourism Department to the Finance Department, as secretary to State Finance Commission. In this context, Smita Sabharwal tweeted a verse from the Bhagavad Gita on Tuesday evening.
In her post, she said ‘Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma Faleshu Kadachana’. She tweeted this verse to mean ‘Your duty is to do your work. Not for the fruit of that work. Do not do your work with the expectation of reward. Do not stop doing your work without it.’
This started a discussion about whether Smita Sabharwal is a little unhappy with the government’s action? Indirectly finding fault with her sudden transfer from the tourism department, she said “I have worked hard for tourism development in the last four months. I have introduced the long-pending Tourism Policy 2025-30 to the state. I have created a strong framework for investment in the neglected tourist circuit”.
“I have tried to increase accountability in the department. The effort to lay the foundation for logistics and planning and start a global event has given me respect and joy”, she added. It seems this has sent a gentle message to the key persons in the government.
