Another case has been registered against senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, who was arrested and remanded in the case of illegal detention of Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani and her parents. Anjaneyulu served as the Secretary of APPSC during the YSRCP regime.
At that time, the police registered a case based on a complaint that irregularities and misuse of funds had taken place in the evaluation of the answer sheets of Group-1 (2018) main exams. It is learned that the investigation responsibility of this case, which was kept secret, has been entrusted to a senior officer.
Special teams formed for this have already started the investigation. There are chances that this case will be transferred to the ACB after the completion of the preliminary investigation. Chief Secretary Vijayanand has directed the DGP to register a case and conduct an investigation as per the report received from the AP Public Service Commission.
To this extent, a fresh case has been registered against P. Seetharamanjaneyulu at the Suryaraopet Police Station in Vijayawada city, under sections of cheating, misuse of government funds, tampering with evidence, criminal conspiracy and other sections.
How many times was the evaluation of Group-1 answer sheets done? Who benefited? Who are the conspirators? How much bribes changed hands? The investigation is going on these issues. Sources suspect that the marks obtained in the evaluation conducted in the digital mode were shown as those obtained in the traditional mode.
Also, the connection of PSR with Comsign Media Private Limited, which was given the responsibility of the evaluation arrangements of the answer sheets at the Highland Resort, will also be revealed. Many of the commission members claim that PSR Anjaneyu acted unilaterally in the performance of his duties when he was the secretary of the APPSC.
According to the government report and the details of the complaint received by the police, during the previous TDP government, a notification was issued on December 31, 2018 for the filling of 169 Group-1 posts. After that, the YSRCP came to power. The prelims were conducted on May 26, 2019 and the results were released on November 1 of the same year.
Out of the 9679 candidates who qualified, 6807 candidates wrote the main exams held in December 2020 in essay form. The results of the evaluation conducted in the digital mode due to Covid 19 were released by the APPSC on April 28, 2021. The High Court, which heard petitions filed by several candidates that the notification did not mention digital evaluation, stayed the declaration of results. It ordered that the evaluation should be conducted in the traditional mode.
