Though both TDP and Jana Sena are extending crucial support for the survival of Narendra Modi-led government at the center and BJP is sharing power with them in the state, the BJP-led central government is seems to be determined to protect interests of former chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy from key cases of corruption.
While both CBI and ED cases against him are not moving fast, it is ignoring massive corruption charges in AP liquor scam. Though ED showed hyper interest soon after the state government registering some cases of corruption and starting its own probe, it has practically remained as spectator on this case. It may be recalled as soon as AP CID registered a case against forceful transfer of shares in Kakinada Port, soon after ED entered the scene and it also registered another case.
Likewise, in Telangana soona after ACB filed a case against BRS Executive President KT Rama Rao in Formula A Race case, soon after ED also started probe. But, surprisingly ED is silent on the AP liquor scam. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu himself explained about this scam to union home minister Amit Shah and others stating it is many times bigger than Delhi Liquor Scam.
But as neither the ED nor any of the central investigation agencies pay any interest towards AP liquor scam, it has become clear that the Central government does not want to create any new complications for Jaganmohan Reddy. Both BJP and Modi government are seen as determined to protect Jaganmohan Reddy.
Recently, TDP MP Lavu Srikrishna Devaraya raised this issue in the Lok Sabha and demanded an ED and CBI investigation into the matter, saying that the liquor scam in AP was many times bigger than the Delhi scam. He even personally met Amit Shah and explained to him about this scam.
Even before the 2024 elections, BJP state president and former union minister D Purandeswari personally requested Amit Shah for a probe into this scam. But conveniently the central government is turning a blind eye.
Now, the investigation agencies of Andhra Pradesh have also concluded how the money changed hands in the liquor scam. Mastermind behind this scam Raj Kasireddy was also arrested. However, the ED is not looking at this till now, which means that Jagan has leverage with the top leaders of the Mod-led government.
