Nearly a year after the party faced humiliating defeat in last year’s elections, former chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy is now focusing on giving a new life to the party. For the first time he has reportedly decided to have party membership and organise the party’s plenary every year.
While in power, he hardly concentrated on party’s membership. Other parties are having membership registration frequently and providing various facilities like insurance to party members. However, it is not being implemented in YSRCP.
With this, in order to strengthen the party from the field level, Jagan has decided to give special focus on the party membership and also provide insurance facilities at a higher amount than other parties to members. In this regard, the membership fee and how much health insurance to be given will be discussed and the final approval will be given in the party PAC meeting to be held on Tuesday.
Jagan has arranged meetings with PAC members and regional coordinators for two consecutive days starting from Tuesday. In this meeting key programmes will be decided to strengthen the party from the village level, activate party cadre and fight against the state government.
Jaganmohan Reddy is presently staying in Tadepalli for only three days a week. The rest of the time he is going to Bangalore. Jagan is expected to give direction to the party’s activities by holding a plenary on July 8 and 9. The party PAC and the districts have already been finalized.
Since the TDP is organizing the Mahanadu in Kadapa next month, it seems that Jagan is thinking of holding a plenary in the Godavari districts. With this, Jagan is also ready to join the fight with the alliance government and to expose its failure in implementing election promises.
After the defeat in the elections, a review was made on why the party was confined to 11 seats. The process of correcting mistakes has begun. As part of that, Jagan has reportedly decided to give priority to the party workers. As the alliance government has completed a year, he decided to go on district tours and question the government’s failures at field level.
