Demolition of unauthorised buildings in Hyderabad’s Hafeezpet area has caused controversy once again. On Saturday, the Hyderabad Regional Development and Regularization Authority (HYDRAA) carried out the demolitions on a 17-acre plot claiming that the structures had come up without sanction. One of the buildings that were brought down was the office of Vasantha Krishna Prasad, a prominent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and current MLA from Mylavaram in Andhra Pradesh.
Vasantha Krishna Prasad reacted strongly to the destruction, saying he would approach the issue with the Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy. He was assured that he would get justice as he had talked to the CM about the whole situation.
Upon reaching the demolition site, Vasantha revealed that he had previously received notices from HYDRAA regarding the properties. He had provided all required documentation to the HYDRAA Commissioner, Ranganath, who had assured him that everything was in order and that no issues had been found. Vasantha also mentioned that he had been treated respectfully during this process.
In spite of this initial communication, Vasantha reported that no notice had been given to him thereafter, leaving him in the dark. He queried the timing of the demolitions, which had been done on a vacation day for the courts. Although he admitted that such efforts tended to harm the poorer strata of society, Vasantha, being a responsible public representative, lamented that he could not stop the demolitions.
Vasantha promised to fight HYDRAA’s actions in court, claiming that, even though such laws were draconian, justice would prevail.
He further announced that he would meet Chief Minister Revanth Reddy immediately upon his return from his foreign trip within the next few days. Vasantha is going to narrate the entire details of his land acquisition and is sure that, with the help of Revanth Reddy, justice will be delivered in this issue.
