Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the Telangana state budget in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. For the first time, the Congress government presented a full budget with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 3,04,965 crore. This time, he gave high priority to the welfare sector.
While the revenue expenditure was Rs. 2,26,982 crore, the capital expenditure was Rs. 36,504 crore. The state’s debt was Rs. 5,04,814 crore. Minister Bhatti Vikramarka’s budget speech in the Legislative Assembly lasted for 1.43 hours. The highest amount was allocated for SC welfare of Rs. 40,232 crore. After that, Rs. 24,439 crore was allocated for the agriculture department and Rs. 23,373 crore for the irrigation sector.
Deputy CM Bhatti said that the economy that was broken during the previous government’s rule is being put in order and that it is working keeping in mind both temporary and long-term interests. He opined that if the people are not told the truth, the selfish people will think what they say is the truth. He said that responsible governance will be provided to bring about change.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said in his budget speech that Rs. 5,942 crores will be allocated for the comprehensive flood irrigation project in Hyderabad. He said that a future city is being created that will be a model for the country. He explained that the ORR Phase-2 water supply project has reached the final stage.
He said that drinking water will be provided to the areas expanded in HMDA through Phase-2. He revealed that the future city will be between the Srisailam-Nagarjunasagar roads. He said that a Mega Master Plan 2050 will be prepared to position the state as a leader. He said that they are taking action with the aim of making the Telangana economy a trillion dollars in ten years.
