Pawan Kalyan Turns Defensive on Hindi Row, says He oppose Imposition of Any Language

Friday, December 5, 2025

After his remarks on the language row, especially the discontent of DMK chief MK Stalin against the imposition of Hindi by force, Jana Sena chief and AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan seems landed in defensive and resorted to damage control measures.

After his tweet in 2017, tagging an article saying “Hindi Go Back” and protesting against the imposition of Hindi by force, has now gone viral on social media, in a Tweet he tried to clarify his ideas on language policy.

On the other hand, film actor Prakash Raj reacted strongly. Even DMK leaders have been quick to point out that Pawan, not knowing the history of the language row in the south, may be making some comments. As a result, he tried to explain these ideas through a tweet on social media, saying that he will not support the imposition of Hindi or any other language by force.

Pawan Kalyan said that it is not right to forcefully impose a language or oppose a language. He said that these two aspects do not contribute to achieving the goal of national and cultural integration of India.

He said that he has never opposed Hindi as a language. Pawan reminded that he was only opposed to making it mandatory. He questioned why false stories are being spread about its imposition when National Education Policy 220 does not implement Hindi? He alleged that doing this is nothing but an attempt to mislead the people.

According to the National Education Policy, he said that students have the opportunity to learn any two Indian languages (including their mother tongue) along with a foreign language. If you don’t want Hindi, he suggested that you can choose Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Assamese, Kashmiri, Odia, Bengali, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Meitei, Nepali, Santali, Urdu or any other Indian language.

Pawan Kalyan said that the multilingual policy will help to encourage students with choice, promote national unity and preserve India’s great linguistic diversity. He clarified that the Jana Sena Party is committed to the principle of linguistic freedom and educational choice for every Indian.
