The excitement over the selection of MLA quota MLC candidates in TDP has come to an end. After intense efforts, party chief and CM Chandrababu Naidu has announced MLC candidates for 3 seats. Kavali Greeshma (SC), Beeda Ravichandra (BC), and BT Naidu (BC) have been given a chance.
As the nomination period ends on Monday, the selected candidates are preparing their nomination papers. While elections are to be held for a total of 5 seats in the MLA quota, one seat has already been allotted to the ally Jana Sena.
Konidela Nagababu has also filed his nomination on behalf of that party. As Chandrababu is working hard to select candidates for the remaining 4 seats, the party leaders have stepped in to allocate one seat to the BJP.
Despite the large number of aspirants from Telugu Desam, the TDP has decided to allocate one seat to the BJP as part of the alliance. Party leaders are telling the hopefuls that they are unable to adjust since one seat was given to the BJP this time, and that they will provide an opportunity in 2027 as seven MLC seats will be vacant.
TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao himself entered the fray and called several leaders over phone to explain the situation. It is reported that former Pithapuram MLA Verma, former minister Jawahar, Duvvarapu Rama Rao and TD Janardhan have been called from the high command in this regard.
Everyone expected that Verma, who had won from Pithapuram in the past and sacrificed his seat for Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan would get the MLC seat at any cost. However, both TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, who had promised him earlier, but kept him out of the fray.
The terms of TDP MLCs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Ashok Babu, BT Naidu and Duvvarapu Rama Rao are ending on the 29th of this month. Janga Krishnamurthy resigned from YSRCP and MLC post before the general elections and joined TDP. The seat has been vacant since May 15, 2024. Elections are now being held for these 5 seats.
