Jagan Slams Chandrababu Naidu Over Budget and Welfare Promises

Monday, March 31, 2025

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and MLA Pulivendula’s YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a vitriolic attack against CM N. Chandrababu Naidu and the governing alliance, targeting their budget proposals and governance style. Six days after the presentation of the state budget, Jagan came back strongly at Naidu’s criticism that he was not providing any direct or indirect support to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Condemning in strongest terms, Jagan asked how a Chief Minister, who had sworn to protect the Constitution, could make such remarks. He charged Naidu with intentionally denying YSRCP followers welfare schemes and inquired, “Are these government funds your personal property?” He further urged the judiciary and the Governor to take note of Naidu’s stance, asserting that such statements make him unfit to lead the state.

Jagan slammed the budget as nothing more than a mix of self-praise and deception, alleging that the coalition government has consistently misled the public with unfulfilled promises. He pointed out that both the previous and the latest budgets lacked adequate funding for the much-hyped Super Six guarantees, calling it a clear betrayal of public trust.

Citing specific examples, Jagan criticized the government’s failure to allocate even a single rupee for the ₹3,000 monthly unemployment allowance, which would require ₹7,200 crore in funding. He also ridiculed the free RTC bus travel scheme for women, sarcastically remarking that Rayalaseema women might use it to visit Amaravati and witness Naidu’s so-called development.

With Jagan’s sharp remarks intensifying political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, the debate over budget allocations and governance is set to heat up in the coming days.
