Sunil Naik, who was then CID DIG in the custodial torture case of former MP of Narasapuram and present Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Raghurama Krishnamraju, did not appear for the hearing at the Ongole SP office. He did not even give any information about his absence.
The investigation officer Prakasam District SP Damodar had given a notice to Sunil Kumar to appear for the hearing at 11 am on Monday. It was found that Sunil Kumar Naik was there when Raghurama was subjected to custodial torture. He worked as DIG in AP CID during the previous YSRCP government. He is currently the DIG of Fire Services in Bihar.
Sunil Nayak was confirmed to have been present when Raghurama Krishnam Raju was arrested and brought to the CID office. Police sources said that they had asked him to come and interrogate him on the basis of the statements already recorded. It is known that Sunil Nayak, a Bihar cadre officer, was brought to the state on deputation by the YSRCP government and posted as DIG of CID.
It is pertinent to mention that Raghurama had filed a complaint with the Guntur Nagarampalem police last year against the responsible officials and the then Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy, alleging that he was subjected to custodial torture at the Guntur CID regional office during the YSRCP government.
In this case registered at Guntur Police Station, PSR Anjaneyulu, who served as Intelligence Chief during the previous government, PV Sunil Kumar, who served as CID Chief, former CM Jaganmohan Reddy, CID retired Additional SP Vijay Pal, and Guntur GGH retired supervising officer Dr. Neelam Prabhavathi are the accused.
Kamepalli Tulasibabu, who was a close friend of Sunil Kumar and acted as a legal assistant, was also questioned by the police and arrested. While Vijay Pal is currently on conditional bail, the court granted relief to Dr. Prabhavathi from arrest. She was also questioned by the police.
