The coalition government has brought huge relief to the TIDCO beneficiaries. TIDCO Chairman Ajay Kumar said that the coalition government will pay the loans taken in the name of the beneficiaries without providing them with houses. He said that the total amount of Rs 145 crore that the beneficiaries have to pay will be paid to the banks.
He announced this while inspecting the TIDCO houses in Jakkampudi village of Krishna district. He deplored that the previous government had not paid the farmers who had given land for TIDCO houses. He assured that they will also be paid in installments. He also said that the dues will be paid to the contractors.
Ajay Kumar reminded that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had previously undertaken the construction of 4.5 lakh TIDCO houses to fulfill the people’s dream of owning their own homes. He said that these were constructed with German technology at a cost of Rs 39,000 crore.
He said that the elections came at a time when the construction was completed and infrastructure was to be provided. He was angry that the YSRCP government that came to power later stopped the construction of TIDCO houses. He criticized that only 2.60 lakh houses were allotted among 4.5 lakh beneficiaries.
He also lamented that the bills were stopped for the contractors without providing funds for them. Ajay Kumar clarified that TIDCO houses will be inspected in all areas including Jakkampudi. He said that recently CM Chandrababu had reviewed the TIDCO houses and ordered them to take up the work.
He reminded that a HUDCO loan of Rs. 4,500 crore was also sanctioned. He assured that some houses will be completed and handed over to the beneficiaries by June. He said that the infrastructure will be completed and made habitable.
He criticized that the previous government also took bank loans in the name of the beneficiaries without providing houses. He said that he would talk to the banks and provide flexibility in terms of paying installments.
