AI Revolution: Nara Lokesh’s Vision Unveiled at Davos

During his second day at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics, Human Resources, and Education, Nara Lokesh, participated in several meetings and a roundtable discussion titled *“AI for Good – Shaping a Smarter, Sustainable Tomorrow”*. The session, held at the Davos Belvedere, was moderated by Vishnu Som, Executive Editor of NDTV Group, and featured prominent speakers including Matt Rennert, President of Global Revenue at Google Cloud, Archana Vyas, Director of Program Advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Daniel Susskind, Senior Research Associate at Oxford University.
AI Investment for Smarter Governance
Lokesh highlighted the increasing global investments in AI, particularly for enhancing governance systems. “The global AI market is expected to reach $243 billion this year and grow at an annual rate of 27.67% by 2030,” he stated, underlining AI’s transformative potential.
Andhra Pradesh’s Leadership in AI Adoption
Lokesh emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s leadership in utilizing AI and deep tech under the guidance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. “Our government is collaborating with global tech giants like Google to integrate AI into governance, offering easier citizen services and driving revolutionary changes in administration,” he said.
India’s AI market, expected to grow by 27.86% to $8.3 billion this year, is also set to contribute significantly to global AI progress. Lokesh noted the Indian government’s commitment to AI by allocating ₹10,354 crore for the AI mission in its latest budget. Additionally, India’s AI sector is anticipated to create 2.73 million new jobs by 2028, according to a joint study by ServiceNow and Pearson.
Partnership with Google for AI Solutions
In his address, Lokesh also revealed that the Andhra Pradesh government is planning to establish an AI city in Amaravati, aiming to integrate AI technologies for improving agricultural productivity. He highlighted efforts to use AI in the public health sector to provide affordable and efficient healthcare services.
The government’s partnership with Google will focus on developing AI solutions, enhancing digital infrastructure, and promoting skill development within the local startup ecosystem. Lokesh concluded, “The widespread application of AI, supported by collaborations between government, industry, and academia, will address real-world challenges and make a lasting impact.”
