Former minister and BRS executive president KT Rama Rao has faced a setback in the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has refused to hear the quash petition filed by him in the Formula E race case. With this, KTR withdrew the quash petition.

KTR’s quash petition came up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Wednesday, challenging the High Court’s verdict in the Formula E car race. The Supreme Court ruled that it will not interfere with the High Court’s orders and has dismissed his petition in the Formula E car race case.

KTR recently filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the case registered by the ACB. The high court refused to do so. Due to this, he approached the Supreme Court on the 8th of this month. He filed a petition challenging the High Court’s orders.

A bench of Justice Bela M. Trivedi and Justice Prasanna Worle heard KTR’s petition. On the other hand, the Telangana state government and the ACB have already filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court.

As part of the hearing, advocate Siddhartha made arguments on behalf of KTR and mentioned that HMDA and others were not named in this formula car race case and only two officials and KTR were included as accused. The advocate said that this is a completely political vendetta case. No one is saying that KTR took a single rupee.

In this case, how does 13(1)A of the Prevention of Corruption Act apply? KTR’s advocate argued that 13(1A) of the PC Act does not apply. Justice Bela Trivedi, who immediately intervened, made it clear that he would not interfere in any way with the orders given by the High Court. With this, KTR, who thought that he would get some relief in the Supreme Court regarding this case, has suffered a setback.

In the wake of KTR’s quash petition being dismissed in the Supreme Court, there are reports that the former minister is likely to be arrested. Meanwhile, KTR’s lawyer has requested that the petition be withdrawn and given the opportunity to approach the High Court again. The bench, which allowed him to withdraw the petition, made it clear that he cannot be given the freedom to go to the High Court again. With this, KTR’s lawyer told the court that he will withdraw the petition.
