Sunday, January 12, 2025

Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed concern that even though it has been 10 years since the bifurcation of the state, there are many issues that need to be resolved in relation to both the states.

Expressed his disappointment over delay in completion of Polavaram Project, he expressed hope that it will be completed without any any obstacles now as there is a BJP government at the Centre and a coalition government in the state,

Participating as the chief guest in the Sankranti cultural gathering program organized by the Samata Party former chief VV Krishna Rao  in Vijayawada, he deplored that corruption is increasing exponentially.

“Elections are the only thing that makes you afraid. Only those who loot money are contesting the elections. You are voting for such people”, he said and expressed his fears to contest again in polls in the present environment.

He said that corruption has increased tremendously today and he is afraid of elections. He explained that he will not be able to contest elections in the coming days. He wants to create a corruption-free system.

He asserted that after leaving Congress he had chosen to join BJP as a national party, as he did not want to join any regional party or Communists. He said Prime Minister Modi is providing righteous governance and that is why he joined the BJP. He said that he did not change his ideologies except by changing the party.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that as Congress Chief Minister he had tried his best to prevent the party leadership from bifurcating the state. He said that he had told the high command that he would resign after the decision was taken in the Congress core committee to divide the state.

He recalled that even though he tried to explain that the division would cause losses to both Telangana and AP, they did not listen. He said that 155 MLAs had filed affidavits in the Assembly that the state should remain united.

Referring to the unfortunate and untimely death of former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, he said that he was also supposed to go on the flight of the late Rajasekhara Reddy, but he was stopped for the composition of the Public Accounts Committee. He said that he did not ask anyone for the Chief Minister’s seat. He said that Sonia Gandhi called him at 11 pm and told him to take charge as the Chief Minister of AP.
