A 30-member parliamentary committee team, led by Rajeev Pratap Rudy, visited the Polavaram project today. Accompanied by State Minister for Irrigation Nimmala Ramanaidu, the team assessed the progress of the project. During the visit, Nimmala criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSCP), stating that the party lacked the authority to comment on the Polavaram project, accusing the YSCP government of setting the project back by 20 years.
Nimmala further condemned the YSCP government for demolishing the diaphragm wall constructed under the previous TDP government after 18 months of work. He assured that, as per the schedule set by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, concrete work for the diaphragm wall would begin this month, with the project expected to be completed by September 2027. Nimmala also highlighted that in 2017, Chandrababu Naidu had allocated ₹800 crores for the displaced people, and over ₹800 crores more had been provided recently. He criticized the YSCP government for failing to construct colonies for the displaced and for not clearing the outstanding bills.
