Annapurna Studios has made history by becoming the first studio in India to offer Dolby Technology. The facility, featuring a post-production setup with Dolby certification, was inaugurated by renowned filmmaker Rajamouli on Thursday. The move is aimed at redefining Indian film production, as well as audio and visual standards, to align with global benchmarks and deliver a world-class cinematic experience.
Rajamouli, speaking at the event, shared his personal experience with Dolby Vision during the production of RRR. “When we wanted to present RRR in Dolby Vision, the technology wasn’t available in India. We had to travel to Germany for post-production work. It was disappointing not to experience my film in Dolby Vision in India, but I am extremely happy that it is now available at Annapurna Studios. By the time my next film releases, Dolby Vision will be accessible at multiple locations across the country. Watching a film in Dolby Vision offers a unique experience, as the clarity in visuals elevates the storytelling,” he remarked.
Nagarjuna, speaking on behalf of the studio, highlighted Annapurna Studios’ continuous effort to bring new technologies to Indian cinema. “We are always working towards enhancing the reputation of Indian cinema, and with our studio entering its 50th year, we are proud to inaugurate this new Dolby facility,” he said. Supreeya Yarlagadda described Dolby Vision as a game-changing technology for the industry.
The event also featured special footage from RRR, underscoring the potential of Dolby Vision to enhance cinematic experiences. Dolby Laboratories developed this technology to provide an immersive visual and auditory experience for moviegoers, setting new standards in the Indian film industry.
